đźšš Genii

This article explains how deliveries work with Genii when used as one of Slerp’s courier partners, including vehicle types for large orders, driver behaviour, waiting/cancellation fees, and what makes Genii different.

Slerp Courier Partner: Genii

Genii is a premium, last‑mile car and van courier service integrated with Slerp, primarily used for larger, higher‑value or more fragile orders within London. They operate with planned routes and professional drivers, making them ideal for pre‑planned, catering, next‑day or pre‑order deliveries.

Coverage

Genii currently operates within London only.

They are best suited for:

  • Larger orders that don’t fit standard bike/scooter capacity.
  • Premium or fragile items where a car/van and careful handling are preferred.

If you’re unsure whether your locations or routes are suitable for Genii, please speak to your Slerp Account Manager.

Vehicle types & when to use Genii

Genii focuses on cars and vans, not bikes:

  • Cars – fragile orders (e.g. cakes) and large or that need extra space.
  • Vans – for bulk, catering, or larger orders.

Typical use cases:

  • Large catering orders or multiple large bags/boxes.
  • Fragile items that should not be tightly packed into a backpack or top box.

If your orders regularly exceed the capacity of bike/scooter fleets, Genii is one of the most suitable Slerp courier partner.

How Genii operates (planned routes)

Unlike purely on‑demand fleets:

  • Genii drivers usually work on planned routes. This means that a driver already have jobs lined up for the next day.
  • They are ideal to book at least a day before fulfilment, especially for pre‑orders.
  • This allows them to optimise routes and timings across multiple jobs.

You can still use Genii for more immediate work where available, but you’ll get the best reliability and efficiency when deliveries are scheduled or pre‑ordered.

Driver behaviour, contact & returns

Genii are known for being very reliable and easy to coordinate with.

Contacting the driver

  • You (and in some cases, your team) can usually see and call the driver’s phone number from the live tracking link.
  • If you need to give last‑minute instructions (e.g. use the loading bay, go to side entrance), you can either:
    • Call the driver directly using the number on the tracker, or
    • Contact Slerp Support to relay instructions where appropriate.

Customer contact & waiting

Genii drivers will generally:

  • Call and wait for the customer at drop‑off.
  • Follow any clear delivery instructions provided in the order (e.g. deliver to reception, use loading bay, leave with concierge, 5th Floor).

Returns / rebounds (last resort)

Genii can return/rebound orders, but this is treated as a last option:

  • Drivers will first try to reach the customer and follow any secure instructions.
  • If the delivery truly cannot be completed safely, they may return the order to your venue.
  • Returns are typically charged at the same rate as the original trip, plus any waiting time, where applicable.

Waiting fees & cancellation fees

Genii apply waiting fees that are passed through Slerp Dispatch.

Waiting fees

  • Grace period: 10 minutes
  • Charge after grace: ÂŁ0.50 per minute (rounded up)

Waiting time may be charged at pickup and/or drop‑off if the driver is kept waiting beyond the 10‑minute grace period.

For more on waiting fees, see:

Courier Waiting Fees – Slerp Dispatch

Cancellation fees

  • If a Genii driver has already been assigned and you cancel, a cancellation fee may apply.
  • If you need to change or cancel a job, contact Slerp Support as early as possible so we can minimise costs where we can.

Proof of Delivery (POD)

Genii use image‑based Proof of Delivery:

  • Drivers take a photo at drop‑off to confirm the delivery location.
  • For certain order types/values they may also follow additional instructions (e.g. specific handover points such as reception or a loading bay).

If you need POD or Proof of Pickup/Collection for a specific order (e.g. to investigate a customer complaint):

  • Contact Slerp Support with the order ID and delivery details.
  • We will obtain the POD from Genii where available and share it back with you.

When to choose Genii vs other fleets

Genii is usually the best option when:

  • Orders are large, bulky or higher‑value.
  • You need a premium, highly coordinated service with:
    • Car/van capacity
    • Good driver communication
    • The ability to follow specific access instructions

Bike/motorbike fleets (like Stuart/Uber DirectDeliveroo Express) are usually better when:

  • Orders are small to medium
  • You need fast, on‑demand coverage
  • You’re operating outside Genii’s London service area
