🚲📦 PedalMe (Cargo‑Bike)
This article explains how deliveries work with Pedal Me when used as one of Slerp’s courier partners, including when to use cargo‑bikes, waiting fees, driver behaviour, returns, and what makes Pedal Me different.
Slerp Courier Partner: PedalMe
PedalMe is a London‑based, 100% electric cargo‑bike logistics company providing on‑demand passenger and courier services. They use directly employed, professionally trained riders and can carry everything from small parcels to bulky freight up to around 300kg, specialising in city‑centre deliveries.
They have strong availability and a larger London coverage than Pedivan, and are currently the main fleet we use for ASAP large orders that can travel by cargo‑bike.

Coverage
Pedal Me operates within London, with:
- Wider inner‑city coverage than Pedivan.
- Good availability for ASAP / on‑demand work.
- Capacity to handle bulky freight up to around 300kg (when safely packed for a cargo‑bike).
They are ideal for:
- Large takeaway / grocery / catering orders in central areas.
- Orders where bike speed is an advantage over car/van in traffic.
- Partners who want a low‑emission solution without sacrificing capacity.
Vehicle type & ideal use cases
PedalMe uses electric cargo‑bikes, designed to carry heavier and bulkier loads than a standard rider backpack.
Typical use cases:
- Multiple pizza boxes or stacked meal kits.
- Grocery and retail orders packed into crates or cartons.
- Bulky but compact items (up to ~300kg) suitable for stable bike transport.
Considerations:
- Great for fast city‑centre movement, but packing must protect items from vibration and movement.
- As with Pedivan, very delicate items (e.g. tiered/fragile cakes) are not ideal; if you do send them via PedalMe, make sure:
- Packaging is extremely secure, and
- The rider is made aware that extra care is required.
Booking style
Pedal Me can support both:
- ASAP / on‑demand jobs – where they are often our main large‑order fleet, and
- Pre‑planned runs – where booking the day before can help secure capacity and routing.
You’ll get the best service when:
- Orders are realistically sized for cargo‑bikes, and
- Addresses and access instructions are clear.
Waiting fees & peak/off‑peak rules
Pedal Me charges waiting fees with different rates for off‑peak and peak times:
- Grace period (pickup & drop‑off): 6 minutes at each point.
- Off‑Peak waiting fee: £0.61 per minute after the 6‑minute grace period.
- Peak waiting fee: £0.94 per minute after the 6‑minute grace period.
Waiting time can be charged at both pickup and drop‑off if riders are kept waiting beyond grace.
To minimise waiting fees:
- Have orders ready on time.
- Provide clear access instructions (e.g. reception, loading bay).
- Encourage customers to be available within the delivery window.
For more information about waiting fees, see:
Proof of Delivery (POD)
Pedal Me uses image Proof of Delivery:
- Riders take a photo at the drop‑off location to confirm where the order was delivered or, in failed cases, where it was returned or left.
- You can request this image via Slerp Support if you need to investigate a delivery query.
If you need POD or proof of pickup for a specific order, contact Slerp Support with the Slerp order ID and delivery details; we’ll request the image from Pedal Me and share it with you.
Driver behaviour, contact & returns
Pedal Me riders are directly employed and professionally trained, and we find them straightforward to work with.
- Riders will generally call the customer on arrival.
- They are used to following specific instructions (e.g. use loading bay, side entrance, leave with security).
- Communication via Slerp tracking and support is typically smooth and responsive.
Returns / rebounds
PedalMe can return/rebound orders as a last resort:
- They first wait and attempt to contact the customer within reasonable limits.
- If they cannot safely complete the delivery and there are no workable instructions, they may return the order to your venue.
- Returns are charged in line with the agreed pricing for Pedal Me, plus any applicable waiting time.
When to choose Pedal Me vs other fleets
Pedal Me is usually the best fit when:
- You need ASAP large‑order coverage within London.
- Orders are large/heavy but still suited to cargo‑bike transport.
- You want a high‑capacity, low‑emission alternative to cars/vans.
Other fleets (e.g. Genii, Gophr, Addison Lee) may be preferable when:
- Items are too delicate for bikes, or
- You need car/van capacity or coverage outside Pedal Me’s London area.
