🚲📦 Pedivan (Cargo‑Bike)
This article explains how deliveries work with PediVan when used as one of Slerp’s courier partners, including when to use cargo‑bikes, driver behaviour, waiting/return policies, and what makes PediVan different.
Slerp Courier Partner: Pedivan
PediVan is a London‑based, emission‑free courier service using a fleet of electric cargo‑bikes for sustainable urban logistics. They provide courier solutions for express, scheduled and specialised deliveries, and are one of Slerp’s main fleets for larger orders that can still travel by bike (e.g. multiple pizza boxes, catering orders).

Coverage
PediVan currently operates within London.
They’re best suited for:
- Dense, central areas where bikes can move faster than cars.
- Partners looking for low‑emission / emission‑free delivery options.
- Larger but not oversized orders that still fit inside a cargo‑bike box.
If you’re unsure whether your sites are in PediVan’s active area, please check with your Slerp Account Manager.
Vehicle type & ideal use cases
PediVan uses electric cargo‑bikes, designed to carry larger loads than a standard rider backpack, while still moving quickly through city traffic.
Typical use cases:
- Large food orders that fit neatly in crates or boxes (e.g. multiple pizza boxes, catering orders, meal bundles).
- Grocery/Retail orders with multiple items that can be stacked securely.
Points to keep in mind:
- They’re generally faster through city traffic than cars, but still need safe packing.
- Very delicate items (e.g. tiered cakes) are not ideal for cargo‑bikes. If there’s no alternative and you choose to use PediVan, ensure:
- The order is packed extremely securely, and
- Slerp / PediVan are made aware that the rider should take extra care with sensitive products.
Booking style – best for pre‑planned routes
Like some of our other specialist fleets, PediVan works particularly well on planned routes rather than pure ASAP/on‑demand:
- They are ideal to be booked at least a day before fulfilment, especially for pre‑orders.
- This allows PediVan to plan efficient routes and ensure appropriate cargo‑bike capacity.
You can still use PediVan for more immediate work where available, but you’ll see the best results when orders are Scheduled or pre‑ordered.
Driver behaviour, contact & returns
PediVan is known as a reliable, high‑quality service with professional riders.
Contact & following instructions
- Riders will generally call the customer on arrival and are used to following clear delivery instructions, such as:
- Deliver to loading bay
- Leave with reception/security
- Side entrance
Where tracking supports it, you and your team may also see rider details so you can coordinate any last‑minute changes via Slerp Support.
Proof of Delivery (POD)
PediVan uses image Proof of Delivery:
- Riders take a photo of the order at the drop‑off location to confirm where it was left or handed over.
- This image is stored with the job and can be retrieved via Slerp Support if needed (for example, to investigate a “missing delivery” claim).
If you require POD or Proof of Pickup/Collection for a specific order:
- Contact Slerp Support with the Slerp order ID and delivery details.
- We’ll request the POD image from PediVan and share it with you once available.
Waiting & returns / rebounds
- Currently, PediVan does not charge a waiting fee via Slerp.
- Riders do still operate on schedules and may self‑cancel or escalate if they are kept waiting excessively.
PediVan can return/rebound orders, but this is treated as a last resort:
- Riders will first wait a reasonable period and attempt to contact the customer.
- If they cannot safely complete the delivery and there are no workable instructions, they may return the order to your venue.
- Returns are typically charged in line with the delivery pricing agreed for PediVan.
When to choose PediVan vs other fleets
PediVan is usually the best choice when:
- You want a sustainable, emission‑free delivery option within London.
- Orders are larger than a standard backpack but still suitable for a cargo‑bike box.
- Your pre‑order is in compact/busy area.
Other fleets (e.g. car/van partners) may be a better fit when:
- Items are very fragile or structurally delicate (e.g. tall/stacked cakes).
- Orders are oversized even for a cargo‑bike.
- You’re delivering outside PediVan’s London coverage.
