🎫 Collecting Points/Stamps Offline
Customers can collect loyalty points or stamps in-store either by scanning a QR code, or by having points awarded through a supported POS setup such as Lightspeed.
How offline loyalty collection works
Offline loyalty collection allows customers to earn loyalty in-store without placing an online order.
Depending on your setup, there are currently two ways to do this:
- QR code loyalty collection
- Awarding points through Lightspeed POS
The correct method depends on how your store is configured and whether your POS is connected to Slerp Loyalty.
Collecting Points/Stamps using QR codes
QR code loyalty collection can work in two different ways, depending on your loyalty scanning method.
You can choose whether:
- Staff scan loyalty
Customer scans loyalty
This setting controls whether the QR code is generated on the customer app, or on your device.
Where to change the loyalty scanning method
- Go to Loyalty.
- Open the Settings tab.
- Find Loyalty Scanning Method.
- Choose one of the following options:
- Staff scans loyalty
- Customer scans loyalty
- Click Save.
You can change this setting at any time.
If you are using a third-party POS, make sure it supports your chosen scan setting.
Option A – Staff scans loyalty
Choose Staff scans loyalty if your device supports QR code scanning.
With this option:
- staff scan the customer’s QR code during the transaction
- the QR code is shown by the customer
Use this method when your team wants to control the scan during checkout or service.
Option B – Customer scans loyalty
Choose Customer scans loyalty if you want the customer to scan the loyalty QR code.
With this option:
- the customer scans the loyalty QR code
- this is useful if you have static QR codes displayed in your shop
- the customer uses your branded app to scan and collect loyalty
Use this method when you want a simple self-serve collection flow in-store.
Generate a QR code in Controls
If your setup uses customer scanning or printed/static QR codes, you can generate the QR code in Controls:
- Click Loyalty in the left-hand menu.
- Open the Your Cards tab.
- Click the QR code button to the right of the relevant card.
- Select the store you want the QR code to apply to.
- Select how many Points/Stamps should be awarded per scan.
- Set the expiration time for the QR code.
- Download or display the QR code for in-store use.

Generate a QR code on the Slerp app
- Log into the app.
- Choose Location then save.

- In the side navigation menu, select Loyalty.

-
You will see the Loyalty Card/s, set the points.

-
You can choose either Choose 'Show QR to redeem a point or 'Show QR to redeem a reward.

- QR Code to collect a point:

- QR Code to redeem a reward:

🏆 Best practice for QR code use
To reduce misuse:
- Set a sensible expiry time for the QR code
- Make sure staff understand which QR code is for collection and which is for reward redemption
- Only display the code in-store where staff can manage its use
- If using customer scanning, make sure the displayed QR code is clearly linked to the correct store and loyalty card
Awarding points through Lightspeed POS
If you use Lightspeed POS with Slerp Loyalty, points can also be awarded through the POS workflow rather than only through QR code scanning.
This allows your online and in-store loyalty activity to sit within one loyalty program, rather than being managed separately.
Before you start
Before using Lightspeed POS for loyalty, make sure:
- Real Time Notifications (RTNs) have been enabled by Lightspeed
- Slerp is connected to your Lightspeed business
- Your Slerp stores are mapped to the correct Lightspeed locations
- Your Lightspeed loyalty discounts and Slerp rewards have been configured and mapped correctly
- The Slerp Loyalty web extension has been added to the POS screen
For the full setup process, see:
Connecting Slerp Loyalty to LightspeedHow it works
Once the loyalty integration is configured:
- staff can access the Slerp Loyalty web extension on the Lightspeed POS screen
- in-store loyalty can be managed through the POS workflow
- customers can collect loyalty as part of the same Slerp loyalty program used online

Which method should I use?
Use staff scans loyalty when:
- your team scans the customer’s loyalty QR code during service
- you want staff to control the loyalty collection step
- your device or POS setup supports QR code scanning
Use customer scans loyalty when:
- you want the customer to scan the loyalty QR code themselves
- you have a static QR code displayed in-store
- you want a simple self-serve loyalty collection flow through your branded app
Use Lightspeed POS loyalty when:
- you want in-store loyalty handled directly through your Lightspeed POS
- you want online and in-store loyalty linked in one setup
- your Lightspeed loyalty integration has already been configure
📝 Important notes
- QR code loyalty collection can be configured for either staff scans loyalty or customer scans loyalty.
- Customers using the customer-scan method must use your branded app to scan the loyalty QR code.
- Lightspeed POS loyalty requires the integration to be set up correctly before staff can use it.
- If Lightspeed is not fully configured, use one of the QR code methods until the integration is ready.
Troubleshooting
Customers cannot collect points using the QR code
Check that:
- the correct loyalty scanning method is selected in Loyalty Settings
- the correct card QR code was generated
- the QR code is for the right store
- the QR code has not expired
- the customer is using the correct branded app if you are using customer scanning
Staff cannot scan the customer’s QR code
Check that:
- Staff scans loyalty is selected
- the device being used supports QR code scanning
- staff are scanning the customer’s loyalty QR code during the transaction
Staff cannot award points in Lightspeed POS
Check that:
