🍱 Composer – Importing Single Products (Including Products with Variants)
Use this when you want to bring individual products from Controls to your Composer inventory.
Before you start
-
Set up products in Controls first
- Composer does not create products from scratch.
- Make sure your products (and any variants) already exist and are correct in your Controls → Products tab.
-
Understand how variants appear in Composer
If a product has variants in Controls (for example Delicious Cake with sizes Small/Medium/Large), you will see multiple lines in the Composer Import tab:
Delicious CakeDelicious Cake (Small)Delicious Cake (Medium)Delicious Cake (Large)
In other words, each variant appears as its own “product” line, with the variant name in brackets.
This is expected and allows you to control pricing and usage per variant in Composer.

Verify imported items in Composer
-
When the import is complete:
- Go to the Products tab in Composer.
- You should now see:
- Your simple products, and
- Each selected variant as its own line item (e.g.
Delicious Cake (Small),Delicious Cake (Medium), etc.).
-
These items are now ready to:
- Be added to your pricelists, and/or
- Be used as contents in bundles or packages.
-
Practical tips
-
Naming consistency helps
Use clear variant names in Controls (e.g. “Small / Medium / Large”, “Single / Double”) so the Composer list is easy to scan. -
If you can’t see an item to import
- Double-check it exists and is active in Controls → Products.
- Make sure you’re looking under the Import tab in Composer → Inventory.
What to do next
After importing single products, you can:
- Add them to your pricelists so they can be used for orders.
- Move on to importing products with modifiers if you have more complex setups.
