Slerp CRM helps you turn your customer data into practical marketing actions. It brings your contacts, campaigns, automations, and reporting into one place so you can build stronger repeat business through your direct channel. In this guide, we’ll cover the basics you need before you start building campaigns. ### What Slerp CRM is used for You can use Slerp CRM to: - Store and manage customer contact details - Build email and SMS campaigns - Segment contacts based on behaviour and profile data - Create automated journeys such as welcome emails or follow-up offers - Track campaign performance over time ![](https://support.slerp.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Sep-29-2026-02-15-43-0962-PM.png?width=670&height=355&name=image-png-Sep-29-2026-02-15-43-0962-PM.png) ### How your contact database works Your CRM database tracks the contacts collected through your Slerp setup. This can include: - Email addresses - Mobile numbers - Marketing opt-in status - Order and transaction history - Tags and behavioural data Only contacts who have opted in should be included in marketing sends. If you run multiple venues or brands, these can often be managed under the same database structure, depending on how your account has been set up. ### SMS marketing: what to know first SMS is available in Slerp CRM, but it works differently from email. Before you send SMS campaigns, keep these points in mind: - SMS credits must be purchased in advance - SMS is charged at **5p per message** - A Sender ID can be set up so messages appear from your venue name rather than a shared number - You should complete the SMS setup form during onboarding if you want to use your own sender name Sender ID registration can take a few weeks, so it’s worth setting this up early if SMS will be part of your plan. ![](https://support.slerp.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Sep-29-2026-02-17-00-0776-PM.png?width=670&height=198&name=image-png-Sep-29-2026-02-17-00-0776-PM.png) ### Domain setup for email sending If you want to send marketing emails from your own domain, that domain needs to be verified first. Your domain is the web address connected to your business, for example **[yourbusinessname.com](http://yourbusinessname.com/)**. Your domain provider is the company you purchased or manage it through, such as **GoDaddy**. To verify the domain, you’ll usually need to add DNS records through your domain provider. This means updating the records on the backend of your domain account, for example with GoDaddy or 123 Reg, so you can send emails from your own domain. If your domain has not been verified yet, a fallback sending domain may be available so you can still get started while setup is being completed.
