🛍️ Composer - Importing Bundles with Variants

Use this when you sell bundles (e.g. Box of 6 Doughnuts, Pizza + Drink Combo) where the items inside the bundle may include variants (e.g. Small, Medium, Large, different flavours).

In Composer you:

  1. Import the bundle itself.
  2. Add the contents – the individual products/variants that make up that bundle.

If you are new to bundles, please see:

đź’ž Composer - Importing Bundles and Assigning Contents

Step 1 – Open Inventory and go to Import

  1. Log in to your Controls account.
  2. Open your Composer from the left‑hand navigation.
  3. In Composer, click Inventory in the left‑hand menu.
  4. At the top, click the Import tab.

Step 2 – Tell Composer you’re importing bundles

  1. In the Import as dropdown, select Bundle.

  2. The list will now show the items in your Controls inventory that are recognised as Bundles.

Step 3 – Select and import the bundles

  1. Find the bundle(s) you want to bring into Composer (for example: Box of 6 Doughnuts).
  2. Tick the checkbox next to each bundle you want to import. You can import multiple bundles at once.

  3. Click Import or Import Selected.
  4. A confirmation dialog will open – make sure Bundles is still selected in the dropdown, then click Import Selected to confirm.

Your bundles now exist in Composer, but they do not yet have any contents attached.

Step 4 – Make sure the products and variants exist

Before adding contents to a bundle:

  • Make sure all individual products and variants that should go inside the bundle have already been:
    • Created in Controls, and
    • Imported into Composer (using the single products / products with variants import process).

If a product or variant is missing, import it first.

Step 5 – Assign contents to the bundle

  1. In Composer, click the Bundles tab.

  2. Find the bundle you just imported and click on its name to open it.

  3. In the contents area of the bundle:

    • Search for the relevant products/variants, example:
      • Original Doughnut
      • Chocolate Doughnut (Large).
    • Add each item to the bundle and set the quantity (e.g. 6 x Original Doughnut, 6 x Chocolate Doughnut).

  4. Save your changes.

Your bundle now has its full contents, make sure to set/assign a pricelists.

Notes on bundles with variants

  • A bundle can include any mix of:
    • Standard products
    • Variant products (e.g. “Delicious Cake (Small)”)
  • Variants appear in Composer as separate items, with the variant name in brackets – import and add them just like any other product.
