✏️ Labeling your Orders
Print and attach clear labels so every parcel reaches the right customer without confusion.
Why labels are important
Clear labels ensure:
- Couriers can scan and deliver parcels correctly.
- Your team can match boxes to orders during packing.
- Customers receive the right products at the right address.
Information typically needed on a label
At minimum, each parcel should show:
- Customer name.
- Full delivery address (including postcode).
- Order ID or reference.
- Store or brand name (so your team can identify it).
- Optional: delivery date, fulfilment window, or any handling notes.
Your carrier may require more details (weight, service type, barcode, etc.). Always follow their instructions.
Step 1 – Get set up for printing
- Choose a label printer compatible with your carrier’s label size.
- Check you have:
- The correct label rolls.
- Access to your carrier’s portal (if labels are generated there).
Step 2 – Download order details from Slerp
From your Slerp Controls dashboard:
- Go to Orders.
- Filter to the orders you need to ship (for example, “fulfilment date tomorrow”).
- Use the option to download or print order details.
- Use this list to:
- Confirm addresses.
- Cross‑check against your carrier labels.
If you use Composer, it can also generate CSV exports and support more advanced label workflows.
Step 3 – Generate labels
Depending on your setup:
- If labels come from the carrier portal:
- Upload the CSV or type in the address details.
- Generate and print the official carrier labels.
- If you print your own internal labels:
- Use the downloaded order details.
- Print simple address + order ID stickers.
Attach labels firmly to a flat surface on the box. Avoid corners or seams where they may peel off.
Step 4 – Match labels to boxes
To avoid mix‑ups:
- Pack one order at a time where possible.
- Place the printed label next to the order while packing.
- Seal the box and attach the label immediately.
- Do a final check against your pick list before handing parcels to the courier.
Good practices
- Keep a spare label roll and printer ribbon on site.
- Reprint any labels that are smudged or mis‑aligned.
- For multi‑parcel orders, add “Box 1 of 2”, “Box 2 of 2”, etc.
