📲 Tablet/Device Recommendations

Use this guide when choosing or replacing tablets for running the Slerp app in your stores.

1. Purchasing a Tablet 

When selecting a device for front-of-house or kitchen use, we recommend:

  • An IP rating of 6 or higher (dustproof, splash‑resistant or waterproof where possible)
  • A stable Wi‑Fi connection in the area where the tablet will be used
  • A reliable power source (we strongly recommend keeping the tablet plugged in during service)

2. Recommended Tablets

Android

The Slerp app is optimised for Android as long as the device can still be updated to a recent supported Android version (see OS section below).

Recommended Android models include:

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab A11 (preferred Android option for most partners)
  • Other current‑generation Samsung Galaxy Tab devices that meet the specs below

If you are purchasing new tablets, we recommend choosing the Samsung Galaxy Tab A11 or a similar‑spec Samsung device.

iOS

The Slerp app is optimised to run on iOS using any recent iPad model that can still be updated to a recent supported iOS version (see OS section below). You can download the iOS app from the App Store.

3. Minimum Specs (Android & iOS)

If you already have an Android or iOS tablet, you can usually use it with Slerp, but older/under‑spec devices may cause performance issues.

We recommend:

  • Operating System (OS)
    • Android: latest stable Android release, currently Android 16, or within 2 major versions below
      • Recommended: Android 14 newer.
    • iOS: latest iOS release, currently iOS 26, or within 2 major versions below
      • Recommended: iOS 17 or newer.
  • Memory (RAM): 4 GB or above
  • Screen size: 8" or larger

If your device is significantly older (cannot update to a current OS version, or has less than 4 GB RAM), we strongly recommend upgrading.

4. Next Steps

Once you’ve confirmed your device:

  1. Follow our Tablet setup guide to install the Slerp app and enable automatic updates. 
  2. Set up your Bluetooth printer using our printer setup articles (Star, Munbyn, Jolimark).
  3. Place a test order to check notifications, sound, and printing behave as expected.
