🚚 Setting a delivery zone for Pre-order deliveries

Use this guide to set up a dedicated delivery zone for pre‑order deliveries (e.g. whole cakes for tomorrow), which can be different from your same‑day delivery area.

What is a pre‑order delivery zone?

Your pre‑order delivery zone defines where you’re willing to deliver orders that are scheduled in advance, not delivered on the same day.

You might want a wider or different area for pre‑orders because:

  • You can plan routes and vehicles ahead of time.
  • Items might be larger/bulkier (e.g. celebration cakes).
  • You may only offer pre‑order delivery on specific days.

This pre‑order zone is separate from your same‑day delivery zone and your Busy Driving Zone (used only when Activity Mode is set to Busy for same‑day orders).

Step 1 – Open your location’s delivery settings

  1. Log in to your Controls Dashboard.
  2. In the left‑hand menu, click Locations.
  3. Click the location name you want to edit.
  4. Click the Settings button in the top‑right.

Step 2 – Go to Pre‑order delivery settings

  1. In Settings, go to Pre‑orders.
  2. Click the Delivery section.
  3. Make sure Delivery is enabled for pre‑orders.

You should now see the options to configure the pre‑order delivery zone.

Step 3 – Configure your pre‑order delivery zone

Depending on your setup, you’ll see:

  • A map where you can draw or adjust your delivery area, and/or
  • A distance radius option based on your store’s address.

To set the zone:

  1. Use the tools on the map to draw or resize the area where you’re happy to deliver pre‑order orders.
  2. Keep in mind:
    • Customers outside this zone won’t see pre‑order delivery as an option.
    • If you use Slerp courier partners for pre‑orders, make sure the zone stays within the courier’s coverage.
  3. Click Save once you’re happy with the area.

Step 4 – Align with your prep times and courier setup

Your pre‑order delivery zone works best when it matches your operations:

šŸ’” Tips and good practices

  • Start with a smaller zone and expand once you’re confident your team and couriers can consistently deliver on time.
  • Review the zone after busy periods or seasonal peaks to see if you need to adjust it.
  • If you offer same‑day and pre‑order delivery from the same location, make sure the zones and prep times make sense together, so customers see realistic fulfilment options.
